Starbucks Chaos
It was much better this morning at 5:30. I really think that’s the best time to go to Starbucks.
There are two Starbucks in Crystal City. The good one and the bad one. Tom used to live near the good one. Now we live closest to the bad one.
Now this Starbucks didn’t earn the title of “The Bad One” until just this morning. Because it was on this morning that I waited almost 20 minutes for a Venti Red Eye (a regular coffee with a shot of espresso). I am not exaggerating.
I should have known I was in for a wild ride when the woman at the register called the drink a “small Venti Red Eye.” Huh? So I thought “whatever, I’m sure the barista knows how to translate that….”
Well I stood there for a near eternity while people who came in long after me left with their drinks. I finally realized that making deliberate, concerne eye contact with the employees was getting no where and asked where my drink was. The same woman who took my order made some broad gesture to her right and said the drink would be coming soon.
Coffee and espresso. That’s all I asked for.
So I went back to my spot and waited. And almost 10 minutes later, my drink arrived. But to backtrack a little - when I went up to ask about my drink’s whereabouts, that’s when all hell broke loose behind the counter. There was some chaos with the barista - resulting in her putting drinks on the bar for imaginary customers. I say imaginary because absolutely no one was picking up these drinks. I don’t know if she imagined these orders or if they belonged to people who just gave up and went to work.
